How to Search Fulton County Death Records

The health department staff will look through their records and pull the certificate if they find a match. Ohio Law on Fulton County Death Records

Under Ohio Revised Code Section 149.43, death records are public records. Anyone can request a copy from the Fulton County Health Department. No family connection is needed. The only restriction is on the social security number, which is hidden for five years after death under Section 3705.23. Authorized requestors such as spouses, lineal descendants, executors, and attorneys can get the full record during that period.

Section 3705.24 sets the floor for certified copy fees at $12. Fulton County sets its own rate above that. Part of each fee goes to the state office of vital statistics. Section 3705.07 tells local registrars how to process death certificates. They number, sign, and copy each one, then send the original to the state. Section 3705.29 makes it a crime to falsify or tamper with any death certificate in Ohio.
